Announcement and Call for Papers for the International Conference Moulds, Health and Heritage Audimax Technische Universitat Braunschweig Pockelsstrasse 38106 Braunschweig September 4-5, 2003 Associates: Braunschweigisches Landesmuseum, Deutschland International Society of the Indoor and Built Environment ISBE Environmental Building Solutions, UK Botamynus, Deutschland Aims and Objectives: The aim of the conference is to bring together multidisciplinary scientists and practitioners working with the moulds infecting our cultural heritage and the health of the occupants. The exchange of scientific knowledge with the experience of the practitioners and the cross fertilisation of ideas with those involved in day to day management, will help in developing integrated solutions to the problems of moulds in museums, libraries, archives, historic buildings and artefacts, occupants and the indoor environment. The conference will address conservation science, restorers, architects, engineers, specialists and consultants confronted with mould problems, with the following themes; Health and heritage overview Monitoring and inspection methodologies Medical and clinical mycology Health hazards, indoor air quality and contamination Practical applications and case studies Strategies for control The conference will focus on developing a better knowledge base for managers and practitioners dealing with the problems caused by moulds in museums, libraries, archives and historic buildings, the built environment and on historical artefacts. Abstracts of not more than 250 words should be submitted by Dec 2, 2002 with an indication of preference for oral or poster presentation. The organizing committee reserves the right to designate papers as oral or poster. Notice of acceptance will be sent by Feb. 15, 2003 Abstracts may be in German or English.
