Museum Pest Management Coordinator The Field Museum Chicago, IL USA The Field Museum is responsible for extensive zoology, geology, botany and anthropology collections. It maintains exciting exhibition and education programs. It's internationally acclaimed research and academic programs are active in more than 92 countries. The Field Museum is developing and implementing an Integrated Pest Management Program. The Pest Management Coordinator (PMC) shall manage and coordinate all aspects of the Museum's pest issues and take an active direct role in pest control.The PMC shall report to the Manager of Facility Planning and Operations, and in coordination with the Chair of the Pest Subcommittee. We seek an individual to coordinate all aspects of this program. The Coordinator shall: * Develop and implement a pest monitoring and control program for the Museum, in coordination with all relevant departments (including Exhibitions, Collections, Education, Housekeeping, Special Events, Food Services, Facilities Planning and Operations), and external pest control contractors, among others * Supervise long and short-term pest management contractors * Supervise any interns employed on pest management issues * Work with Facility Planning and Operations and Exhibitions to ensure that all new construction is done in such a way as to maximize the ease of pest control * Maintain appropriate documentation of pest issues and report regularly to the Pest Subcommittee of the Facilities Planning Advisory Group, and to other groups as needed * Conduct pest control training for Museum staff * Communicate the Museum's efforts in professional venues such as publications, technical bulletins, conferences, and meetings A two-year position with competitive salary and benefits package is offered. The position is open until filled. A Masters degree or equivalent in experience is required. Special knowledge or experience in at least one of the following areas is required: museums, exhibits, research collections, and pest control. The ability to work both independently and with large numbers of people is essential.Prior experience with pest control in a natural history museum is desired. Ability to supervise others is necessary.
