Subject: Book mites
Celia Withycombe <crw1001 [at] cam__ac__uk> writes >What is the latest thinking on book mites? There are no such animals on the planet. Book mites are mythical. There is an insect called a pscocid, which is visible by the naked eye, have six legs, small, no wings, whitish to clear in color, which feed on microscopic mold on paper. Perhaps that's the critter you're referring to. Humidity control will eliminate the microscopic mold and hence the pscocids. Pscocids do not bite humans and are harmless.
