Subject: Storing videotape
To Rewind or to not rewind, That is the question. The advice AIC gives on their Caring for your Treasures series under Storage is 'After recording, rewind the tape before ejecting it.'. This advice seems to conflict with other advice to store the tape in its non stretched/ minimum tensioned regularly played state. If they are rewound, are they then stored under tension? Is this true for both Video and audio tapes? Please could the specialists clarify this for me?
