Subject: Call for papers--new directions in archaeological science
UK Archaeological Science Conference Session on New Directions Oxford University April 2-5, 2003 Abstract Deadline is December 31, 2002 A session on new directions in archaeological science is currently being organized. As part of this effort, we would like to include several papers on the impact of conservation on the analysis of archaeological material. We envision several papers that will address what is either preserved or altered as a result of conservation treatment. Also to be addressed is the use of conservation examination techniques as strategic tools for determining sampling locations, and for scouting areas appropriate for non-destructive testing. Abstracts (200-400 words) should be submitted electronically (MS Word or Rich Text Format) by December 31, 2002 to ukas2003 [at] rlaha__ox__ac__uk. The abstracts should include the title, author(s) and affiliation(s) (with email address of corresponding author). Please indicate whether oral or poster presentation is preferred, and in which session (ie Geoarchaeology, Human and animal lifeways, Technological studies, Future directions in archaeological science or Site specific archaeological science) you would like your paper included. Slide, overhead and digital projectors will be available. Display area for each poster presentation will be 1m x 2m (portrait). The meeting will take place at St. Anne's College on the 2-5th of April 2003. Further details can be obtained at <URL:http://users.ox.ac.uk/~ukas2003/>.
