Subject: Feathers
A historic home our museum oversees has a taxidermied owl. We believe it dates back to the 1930s, so it probably has arsenic. The donor gave it a "bath" before giving it to us (actually the result of bath is why she gave it to us). She actually dumped it in the sink and washed it. Of course, the feathers never dried right and the owl looks like it is molting. Does anyone know a safe way for me to "preen" the owl's feathers?
