Conservator and Textile Conservator The National Trust Conservator The National Trust Sherborne Estate Office Aldsworth near Cheltenham Gloucestershire Fixed term contract to cover maternity leave from April 2004 The National Trust is Europe's leading conservation charity, and its collections, housed in some two hundred properties open to the public, are of outstanding importance. The successful candidate will join a team of conservators working in the National Trust's west territory. The Conservator will provide advice and professional expertise in the preventive and remedial conservation of collections and historic interiors. You must have a good first degree and/or a recognised conservation qualification. PACR is highly desirable. You will have at least three years' experience of working as a Conservator. Communication, team working, organisational, planning and IT skills are important as well as the ability to promote the interests of conservation and to train, motivate and develop staff at all levels. You must be able to provide evidence of your right to take up employment in the EC. You must also be prepared to work on site and be in possession of a current clean driving licence. Textile Conservator The National Trust Textile Conservation Studio Oulton Blickling Hall Estate Norwich Fixed term contract for two years The Textile Conservation Studio is in newly converted premises and is run as an enterprise offering services to external clients as well as undertaking major projects for the National Trust. This is a responsible position in which to build upon your skills and experience, with the opportunity to travel widely around the country, assisting the manager and team with practical work and student training, both in the studio and on site. The salary is circa UKP17,500 (grade under review) depending upon skills and experience. You should have a recognised textile conservation qualification plus three years' relevant experience, be a team player, have a mature attitude, good communication and problem solving skills and a strong sense of self-motivation. You should be willing to work away from home on occasions. PACR is encouraged. A current clean driving license is essential.
