Environmental Microbiologist Research Assistant Historic Scotland Applications are invited for the post of Environmental Microbiologist Research Assistant within Historic Scotland's Technical Conservation Research and Education Group (TCRE) and based at its Conservation Centre in Stenhouse, Edinburgh. TCRE Group undertakes research relating to the built heritage with the aim of raising standards of conservation practice amongst owners, trade and professional groups in Scotland. The Research Assistant will focus on two principal areas of research: a. work on a major European Commission-funded project relating to the prevention of biofilm re-colonisation on masonry b. the environmental monitoring of historic buildings and monuments The successful applicant will have qualifications and experience appropriate to meet these research needs. An understanding of geology and the use of stone in building would be beneficial. Travel within Scotland may be required and a car user is essential. The appointment will be on a 2-year fixed term basis, salary in the range of UKP16,480 - 23,454 per annum (pay award pending).
