Complete program and registration information is now available for the 2004 meeting of the Electronic Media Group at the 32nd annual AIC meeting to be held at the Hilton Portland and Executive Towers in Portland, Oregon from June 9-14, 2004. *Special* Specialty Group Program Sunday, June 13 2-5:30 pm and Monday, June 14 10 am - 5 pm (a free, ticketed event) Take Note: EMG is offering a full day of talks that do not conflict with other AIC specialty group meetings. Special Session Description: Is progress being made in addressing the many preservation challenges posed by technology-driven cultural materials? EMG kicks off its special 2004 program, funded with a grant from The National Center for Preservation Technology and Training, to answer this question by focusing on the latest efforts underway. Participants will present case studies and other examples of methods applied for the purpose of extending the life of electronic art, multimedia, audiovisual materials, computer and video games, and other interactive works and environments. Highlights include a look at some of the first applications of the technique emulation in cultural heritage preservation and discussions on documenting and caring for machines used in the creation of electronic media works.
