Position at Tate

From: Vicky Barnard <vicky>
Date: Monday, April 26, 2004
Senior Paper Conservation Technician
Tate Gallery
Starting Salary: up to #17,000 pa

Tate's Paper Conservation Section services all four Tate sites,
undertaking the conservation and restoration of art works on paper
and photographs. Within the Section's purpose built workshop, you
will take on the role of team leader and co-ordinate the work of
four technicians and occasional temporary staff. Approximately one
third of your time will be spent on supervisory responsibilities,
the remainder on mounting and framing a wide variety of newly
acquired works and items from our Collection.

Expertise in frame making, picture framing and mounting works on
paper is a pre-requisite for this position. This should be supported
by an appropriate craft qualification or equivalent experience. As
the role involves extensive liaison with colleagues in other
departments, you need to be adept at building productive working
relationships. A methodical, calm approach, a keen attention to
detail and the ability to prioritise effectively are all essential.
You should also have experience of managing others, or demonstrable
potential to assume this responsibility.

In addition to salary, Tate offers generous benefits including the
choice of final salary or stakeholder pension.
