The Australian National Maritime Museum located within the Wharf 7 Maritime Heritage Centre, Pyrmont, Sydney has the following ongoing vacancies: Senior Conservator - Paper/Photographic Materials APS Level 6 AUS$50,675 - $58,211 per annum Duties: Lead, plan, carry out and document complex preservation, conservation and restoration treatments in the area of paper and photographic conservation, with particular attention to photographic materials, in the National Maritime Museum and on loan. Lead or participate in conservation projects, including: exhibition development and production; collection surveys; preventive conservation projects; research projects; and educational workshops on the conservation of cultural material, as they relate to collections at the ANMM and on loan. Supervise staff and provide assistance to the Head of Conservation as required. Senior Conservator - Objects/Mixed Collections/Wood APS Level 6 AUS$50,675 - $58,211 per annum Duties: Lead, plan, carry out and document complex preservation, conservation and restoration treatments in the area of object conservation, with particular attention to wooden, composite and related organic objects, including vessels, in the National Maritime Museum and on loan. Lead or participate in conservation projects, including: exhibition development and production; collection surveys; preventive conservation projects; research projects; and educational workshops on the conservation of cultural material, as they relate to organic and related object conservation. Supervise staff and provide assistance to the Head of Conservation as required. Conservator - Preventive Conservation/Mixed Collections APS Level 5 AUS$46,919 - $49,752 per annum Duties: Plan, carry out and document preservation, conservation and restoration treatments in the area of object conservation, with particular attention to preventive conservation applications. Participate in conservation projects, including: exhibition development and production; collection surveys; preventive conservation projects; research projects; and educational workshops on the conservation of cultural material, as they relate to collections at the ANMM and on loan. Supervise and train students, staff and volunteers and provide assistance to the Head of Conservation as required. Conservator - Objects/Mixed Collections/Metals APS Level 5 AUS$46,919 - $49,752 per annum Duties: Plan, carry out and document preservation, conservation and restoration treatments in the area of object conservation, with particular attention to metals, ferrous and non ferrous composite items and inorganic objects, including vessels, in the National Maritime Museum and on loan. Participate in conservation projects, including: exhibition development and production; collection surveys; preventive conservation projects; research projects; and educational workshops on the conservation of cultural material, as they relate to collections at the ANMM and on loan. Supervise students, staff and volunteers and provide assistance to the Head of Conservation as required. Eligibility: To be eligible for engagement, applicants must be Australian citizens. Applicants who have permanent resident status may be engaged on probation pending the granting of Australian citizenship.
