We are looking for a successor to our current Historic Properties Director to lead our team of professionals advising on the care of many of the nation's most precious and beautiful buildings, gardens, historic landscapes and works of art, with the opportunity to make them more enjoyable and rewarding for all sections of society. We need a rare combination of the highest conservation, curatorial, communication and management skills so that this precious collective asset gives the greatest possible public benefit, for ever, for everyone. Working closely with the Land Use Director and the Director of Conservation (to whom you will report) you will ensure that our strategy for combining conservation with access is reflected seamlessly in your team's service to our operational staff managing the many properties in the Trust's care. A whole host of specialists will be under your leadership from archaeologists to curators, gardens and parks advisers to conservators, as well as risk management areas such as fire and security. With full responsibility for the management of the budgets and the centrally reporting staff in your discipline, you will also provide a specialist voice for the interests of historic properties as a member of the Trust's Management Board. Your abilities will be as wide-ranging as your responsibilities. A passionate conservationist with extensive expertise in a relevant historic environment specialism, you share our commitment to promoting learning and enjoyment in innovative ways. As a senior manager with an exemplary record of achievement, you have highly-developed people and resource management skills.
