A death

The Institute of Fine Arts of New York University notes with deep
sadness the death of our valued colleague, Hubertus von Sonnenburg,
Sherman Fairchild Chairman of the Department of Paintings
Conservation at The Metropolitan Museum of Art.  A brilliant
conservator and art historian, Hubertus von Sonnenburg enriched the
intellectual life of the Institute community in innumerable ways,
sharing generously of his knowledge, insights, and teaching gifts.
We extend our condolences on this great loss to his wife Renate, to
his family, and to his many colleagues and friends.
