We are seeking to appoint an individual to the specialist role of
Preventive Conservator. Reporting to the Preventive Conservation
Supervisor at either Kensington Palace or Hampton Court Palace, this
full time role will form part of the Conservation and Collection
Care team.

Key responsibilities comprise carrying out hands on conservation
care routines, including cleaning the collection and protecting it
during commercial events and construction (involving work at height
from scaffolding and the manual handling of diverse artefacts). In
addition, you will be responsible for environmental monitoring and
analysis, pest control management, condition reporting and
exhibition work.

Ideally you will be a recent graduate from a recognised conservation
training programme. You will seek to build on knowledge of passive
conservation by gaining practical experience working in a delicate
heritage environment. As a team player, you will be motivated to
achieve goals by working closely with your colleagues in a reactive
environment. This position will initially be based at Hampton Court
Palace; however, you will also be required work from the other
palaces in the organisation. Hours of work may include evenings and
weekends
