Treatment Conservation Manager Preventive Conservation Manager Historic Royal Palaces manages Based at Hampton Court Palace Excellent Packages Historic Royal Palaces manages five internationally significant historical sites: Hampton Court Palace, HM Tower of London, Kensington Palace, Kew Palace and the Banqueting House, Whitehall Palace. It was established as a charitable trust in 1998 to conserve, present and manage these five royal sites; some of the most visited historical attractions in Britain. In conservation terms there can be few greater challenges than working with a 33-strong conservation team on some of the world's finest collections and historic decorative interiors from the 16th to the 20th century in royal palace environments. These two new appointments for accomplished conservation specialists with expertise in textile conservation and preventive conservation, and strong managerial skills, emerge from a reorganisation that reflects HRP's continuing commitment to develop and expand its conservation programmes. These roles will work at expert level in establishing conservation standards, directing essential conservation programmes, and managing the education and development of a staff of professional conservators, delivering essential conservation work to highest standard. The appointees will have to operate at a strategic level challenging to achieve best practice, as well as creating and implementing policies and procedures that support annual and long term conservation work plans. Graduates with a recognised qualification must have at least ten years experience with a demonstrable capacity for devising complex conservation programmes and managing skilled staff. Excellent communication and negotiation ability in order to influence best conservation practice at all levels internally and externally, within a busy commercial heritage environment, must be coupled with leadership skills. The ability to deliver presentations at professional forums through publications and conferences and build external partnerships will also be essential for the roles. It is desirable that the Treatment Conservation Manager is an expert on textile conservation, with accredited status.
