Conservation Manager - Access Science Museum Blythe House UKP28,140 - UKP36,247 + Regional Weighting Allowance The Science Museum is devoted to the history and contemporary practice of science, technology, industry and medicine, and offers an unrivalled experience in the museum and visitor attraction sector. We are dedicated to ensuring quality and integrity in all we do, and are looking for an individual with a strong sense of accountability to join our Museum team. In this role you will be based in the laboratory at Blythe House and be responsible for managing conservation and collections care at the facility, reporting directly to the Head of Conservation at the Science Museum and liasing with the conservation unit at the museum site. The museum is committed to increasing public access to the collections and the conservation section participates in these programmes. You will be responsible for managing, motivating and developing the present team consisting of a conservator and a collections care assistant who conserve and maintain the objects presently located in Blythe House. You will manage the day-to-day practical treatment of the objects and preventive conservation activities and assist in training programmes to raise collections care awareness in the museum. In addition the unit hosts internships and work placements for conservation students and can include temporary staff on project work. In addition the work will involve the preparation of the collections located at Blythe House for future transfer to the proposed National Collections Centre at Science Museum Wroughton in Wiltshire.
