Conservation Internship March 14-25, 2005 Naval Academy, Annapolis, Maryland John Milner Associates, Inc.'s Preservation Technology Group, based in Alexandria, Va., is pleased to announce a spring-break internship opportunity for a conservation treatment program at the John Paul Jones Crypt at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. Interns will gain hands-on experience working with senior conservators to clean and conserve marble, limestone, and metal elements. Opportunities may include general cleaning, wax staining, and specialized stain removal including human lipids, adhesive residue, grout residue, and other stains from masonry, as well as removal of efflorescence, masonry patching, grouting, and metal cleaning. Interns should be enrolled in a historic preservation program, with preference given to students on a conservation track. Work will be accomplished during the weeks of March 14, 2005 and March 21, 2005; candidates may commit to the first week, the second week, or both. The pay rate is $12.50 per hour, and lodging will be provided Sunday through Thursday nights as will a $30.00/day meal allowance for each day worked to those whose current residence is more than 50 miles from the Naval Academy.
