Subject: DVD on Chinese scroll mounting
The Conservation Department at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Australia has produced a beautiful DVD on scroll mounting within the Chinese tradition. Sun Yu, Conservator for Asian works on paper clearly demonstrates the basic techniques for mounting a painting and shows each stage of the process. It is an invaluable resource for paper conservators and an enjoyable film to watch. Of particular interest are the methods shown for lining Chinese papers and silks, plus gaining information on the complexities associated with mounting. The film is in English and will be released shortly in Mandarin and runs for 103 minutes. The DVD costs internationally $90 Australian, and nationally $85, including postage. All proceeds benefit the Conservation Department and will support future projects.
