Series of Conservation Workshops Puebla, Mexico Join Heritage Conservation Network <URL:http://www.heritageconservation.net> and Pro Centro Zona Monumental and an international team of experts working on a materials conservation pilot project in the World Heritage City of Puebla, Mexico April 17-23, 2005 or April 24-30, 2005. Participants will undertake crucial documentation and assessment work related to the conservation of 18th century frescos and Talavera tiles that decorate the buildings of the Puebla's historic core. The workshop is expected to draw a mixture of students, conservation professionals and interested lay persons. Any necessary training will be provided; the cost of attending this hands-on workshop is $950/week; participants may attend one or two weeks. The April workshop is the first in a series Heritage Conservation Network has developed in partnership with Pro Centro Zona Monumental to support revitalization efforts in the historic center of Puebla, Mexico, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The series will bring conservationists to the city to do restoration work at some of the buildings and, more importantly, establish a demonstration project to encourage additional restoration work. Pro Centro is a non-profit agency working to preserve and revitalize the historic district of Puebla, and Heritage Conservation Network, also a non-profit organization, works around the world preserving architectural heritage.
