Contract Conservator, Archaeological Objects The Oriental Institute, University of Chicago The Oriental Institute Museum of the University of Chicago is seeking a contract conservator for a 12-month position in the archaeological objects conservation laboratory. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the head of the laboratory. Responsibilities will include the conservation treatment and maintenance of an extensive collection of ancient Near Eastern artifacts, with an emphasis on materials in the Nubian collection. These materials include ceramic, stone, metal, leather, textiles and ivory. Applicants must have a graduate degree in conservation or the equivalent. One or more years of experience is preferred. Salary is competitive and includes benefits.
