Professor of Science Conservation Center of the Institute of Fine Arts New York University The Institute of Fine Arts seeks a conservation scientist for a new, endowed faculty position at the Conservation Center. Rank and tenure status will be commensurate with the successful candidate's experience and potential. Minimum qualifications include: Ph.D. in organic, polymer, analytical or physical chemistry, materials science or engineering, or environmental science; a substantial research and publication record, or exceptional promise thereof; evidence of excellence in teaching at both graduate and undergraduate levels; demonstrated interest in art conservation research, such as material characterization, authenticity, provenance, deterioration studies, or research leading to new or improved conservation materials; and doctoral or post-doctoral experience in the science of art conservation. Candidates at the Full Professor level will be expected to have active, externally funded programs. Teaching duties will focus on the core curriculum, as well as one or two elective courses in the professor's area of specialty. In addition, the professor will be encouraged to offer instruction in the science of art conservation to undergraduate students in NYU's College of Arts and Science. Position open till filled.
