Subject: Position at Poggio Civitate
Conservator Poggio Civitate Tuscany June-July, 2005 A conservator experienced working with archaeological materials is needed to oversee finds processing and conservation at the early Etruscan site of Poggio Civitate in central Tuscany, Italy, from June 13-July 30, 2005. The excavation is run as an undergraduate field school <URL:http://ase.tufts.edu/archaeology/murlo/> and the conservator's main duties involve carrying out and teaching basic techniques of archaeological conservation. This includes handling and treatment of bulk materials (ceramics and animal bones) and special finds (primarily ceramic, bone, antler, ivory, bronze, iron and stone). The conservator will also keep work records and produce an end-of-season report. The excavation will provide the room, board, travel expenses and a stipend.
