The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston seeks a full-time Assistant Objects
Conservator for a one-year term appointment in the Department of
Conservation and Collections Management.

The Division of Objects Conservation is responsible for the
preservation, examination and treatment of three-dimensional objects
and sculpture in this encyclopedic collection which spans the
history of western and non-western art, ranging from archaeological
material to contemporary art.  In addition to supporting general
activities in the Objects Conservation Laboratory, the Assistant
Conservator will support activities related to changing exhibitions,
gallery rotations, national and international loans.  In particular,
the Assistant Conservator will be required to travel with two large
loans of Egyptian and Nubian artifacts and perform conservation
activities associated with their installation and deinstallation.

Applicants should have a Master's degree (M.A. or M.S.) from a
recognized conservation training program specializing in objects
conservation.  At least one year minimum of two years post-training
experience is required; longer experience and previous courier
experience are preferred...  Must be able to work independently and
travel.  Excellent interpersonal and writing skills are required.

Department of Conservation and Collections Management.

The Division of Objects Conservation is responsible for the

and sculpture in this encyclopedic collection which spans the
history of art, ranging from archaeological material to contemporary
art.

The Assistant Conservator will work primarily on polychromed Egptian
wood tomb models and coffins in preparation for a major MFA, Boston
exhibition of Middle Kingdom tomb material, Egypt 2008 B.C.:  A Day
in a Noble Life.    He or she will also support general activities
in the Objects Conservation Laboratory, including examination and
treatment of three-dimensional objects and sculpture, as well as
preservation activities.  Occasional travel with objects or
exhibitions may be required.  Full benefits are provided.
