Call for Posters
for the intensive, 2-day conference

"Clay Bricks in the 21st Century: Design, Preservation, and Care
    of Contemporary and Historic Architecture"

This conference, sponsored by Technology and Conservation, the MIT
Department of Architecture, and the Boston Society of
Architects/AIA's Historic Resources Committee, will be held on March
25-26, 2006 in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

The focus of the conference will be on brick building exteriors.
However, attention also will be given to outdoor brick sculpture and
brick ornamentation on facades. . . Many innovations in the
manufacture and use of clay brick have occurred during recent years,
and the research and implementation activities are continuing. The
conference will explore various aspects of these brick performance
studies, fabrication advances, design improvements, construction
techniques/pitfalls, and current conservation/preservation methods.
In addition, several case histories will be presented detailing
viable, cost-effective approaches to the design and care of brick
architecture and sculpture--practical methods for extending the life
and appearance of these structures.

Poster presentations on a project or research involving clay brick
performance, detailing, specification, use, care, or repair are
welcomed.

A poster presentation is one 30 x 40 inch board or two 20 x 30 inch
boards showing project and/or research information relevant to the
conference subject matter--exteriors of contemporary and/or
historic/traditional brick buildings and other architectural
structures, monuments, and sculpture.

An area will be set aside during the conference for the display or
posters and discussions.

Poster proposals should be submitted by December 15, 2005 to:
