Project Conservators Glass Plate Negative Preservation Project The National Archives of Scotland, Edinburgh Aug 1, 2005 - Sep 30, 2005 UKP 17,000 The National Archives of Scotland (NAS) is seeking to recruit two project conservators for casual short term posts to clean and re-house glass plates in preparation for transfer to custom storage. The collection contains an extensive and important photographic record including approximately 30,000 glass plate negatives partially catalogued. This is the third year of this ongoing project. You will be working with permanent conservation staff based in West Edinburgh and be responsible for ensuring the project work is completed and delivered to standard. These positions would suit mid degree conservation students or newly graduated conservators. These posts are open to conservators from any of the disciplines. You should have an appreciation of the preservation needs of glass photographic collections, flexibility and ability to work both in a team situation and unsupervised. Sense of humour is essential. This work will be undertaken within collection stores. These appointments are non pensionable. Applications from candidates who wish to work part time or on a job share basis will be considered. Applicants must be British or Commonwealth citizens, with the right to work in the UK, or nationals of states of the European Union. Salary will be UKP 17,000 pro rata pay award pending.
