Silver Plater

Has anybody heard of and used of a product called "Silver Plater"?
The bumpf reads:

"Silver Plater is a liquid that actually contains silver. It adds
a fine layer of silver to your precious silver pieces whilst you
polish (...Blah, blah). By a process known as molecular plating,
Silver Plater plates surfaces with a layer of pure silver during
    polishing"

They also say that it is safe, non toxic etc.. I have found it in
one of the catalogues of mail order Christmas stuff and wonder if it
could solve my problem: we have in my institution (historic house)
some large plated meat covers, on open display. The powers want them
to remain so and also to be bright and shiny. I have avoided having
them polished for the past 3 years but now it is time to find a way
to get them brighter and shinier again. They are not yet too bad and
have not been touched by ungloved human hands, they are just slowly
tarnishing and the remaining plating is very thin.
