Mellon Fellowship in Paper Conservation and Post-Graduate Internship in Paintings Conservation Balboa Art Conservation Center (BACC) The Balboa Art Conservation Center (BACC), an active regional center serving 19 member museums, non-member museums, and private collectors is offering two Advanced Fellowships a Mellon Fellowship in paper conservation and a post-graduate internship in paintings conservation. BACC conservators work with a wide variety of collection types performing conservation services in examination, treatment, analysis, and on-site surveys of collections. The Center is located in San Diego's Balboa Park in a museum campus-type environment. Collections served by BACC vary widely in keeping with the museum community active with the Center. Paper conservation staff works with collections that include some archival materials, but predominantly history and art collections with emphasis not only in American and European, but S. Asian and some E. Asian materials as well. Both fellowships are one-year, post-graduate internships. The paintings internship is available pending funding. Applicants should be recent graduates of recognized conservation training programs or have equivalent experience. The stipends are based upon a salary of $27,000 plus benefits, four weeks of research leave, and a $1,500 travel allowance in support of study projects.
