The position is a GS-1701-12-13 ($65,048 - $100,554) The Division of Preservation and Access provides leadership and support for a sustained national effort to preserve and increase the availability of resources essential for research, education, and public programming in the humanities. Under the supervision of the Deputy Director, the incumbent works with potential applicants in the development of proposals and participates fully in administrative, financial, program policy, and other matters for the division. The incumbent reviews grant proposals and assesses their eligibility and consistency with Endowment goals; arranges for their review and evaluation by expert panelists; and administers the continued evaluation and payment for current grants. The incumbent represents the division at professional meetings and conducts site visits to promote the division's programs and to evaluate the accomplishments of the current projects it supports. A B.A. in a discipline of the humanities is required (an M.A. or Ph.D. is preferred). The ideal candidate will meet the following criteria: (1) An M.A. or a Ph.D. in the humanities (for at least one of these positions, an advanced degree in U.S. History or American Studies is preferred); (2) Broad knowledge of issues and trends in the library, archives, or museum field at the regional or national level; (3) Familiarity and experience with issues of digital resources in the humanities; (4) Demonstrated speaking and writing ability, as evidenced by recent (3-5 years) presentations at professional meetings or other public gatherings or by written reports, articles, or other documents prepared for public occasions; (5) Administrative experience in higher education, libraries, archives, museums, or in other non-profit or grant-making organizations.
