Turtle shell box

I wonder if anyone has had the experience of flattening a warped
turtle shell lid. I came across a small jewelry turtle shell box
with broken and warped lid.  It needs to be flattened to go back into
the silver frame. Yet, it has intricate inlays of silver flower
motifs.
