Ivory

Does anyone have any experience with removing stains on ivory?  I am
a postgraduate student working on an ivory carving which has been
previously stored wrapped in newspaper in damp conditions.  The
black newspaper print is easily removed, however a small amount of
orange/red pigment on the newspaper has been absorbed by the ivory,
can anyone suggest methods or possible materials for removing the
stain?
