Deputy Conservation Adviser (Textiles) Textile Conservator Assistant Conservator The National Trust The National Trust is Europe's leading conservation charity and its textile collections are of outstanding importance. The Studio, housed on the Blickling Estate in recently converted premises, is part of the Trust's Conservation Section. The Studio is run as an enterprise offering services to external clients as well as undertaking major projects for the Trust. It also runs an intern training programme. Deputy Conservation Adviser (Textiles) Grade 5 Full time, permanent post Salary UKP25,043 You will be an advocate for the promotion and implementation of textile conservation throughout the National Trust which will include delivery of specific training events. As a practitioner you will work closely with the Textile Conservation Adviser/Studio Manager and the studio team to ensure the highest standards are maintained through all stages of service delivery. You will work across the board in all aspects of preventive and remedial conservation influencing and informing both property and conservation staff. Your management skills will enable you to understand, and work creatively with, the constraints on resources that exists within the NT as a charity. You will have a relevant degree (or equivalent) and a recognised textile conservation qualification, plus five years post training experience. You should be ICON-accredited or be actively working towards UK PACR scheme accreditation. You will have worked in a multi-disciplinary team and have excellent communication skills, as well as first class organisational ability with proficient IT skills. A driving licence is essential as you will be required to travel widely to fulfil this role. Textile Conservator Grade 6 Full time, Fixed Term Contract of 2 years Salary UKP21,457 This is a responsible position in which to build upon your skills and experience, assisting the manager and team with practical work and student training, both in the studio and on site at properties. You should have a recognised textile conservation qualification or have completed an apprenticeship, have a broad experience of different types of textile, be a team player, have a mature attitude, good communication and problem solving skills and a strong sense of self-motivation. Accredited status is encouraged. A driving licence is essential. Assistant Conservator Grade 7 Full time, Fixed Term Contract of 1 year Salary UKP18,310 You will be a recent conservation graduate looking to build on your practical textile conservation skills. Under supervision you will undertake practical treatments both in the studio and on site. You will assist and support studio staff with the organisation and maintenance of equipment and, working closely with interns, undertake environmental and pest monitoring within the studio.
