Conservation legacies of l'Alluvione: A symposium commemorating the 40th anniversary of the Florence Flood Florence, Italy November 10-11, 2006 The Conservation Center of the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University and the Villa la Pietra, New York University in conjunction with the Opificio delle Pietre Dure and with the cooperation of I Tatti are organizing a two-day symposium in commemoration of the Florence Flood of November 1966. Sessions will be held in Villa la Pietra and the Palazzo Vecchio. Session themes are: the development of mass treatments, innovations in conservation materials and techniques, building a network of support for conservation, working with students and the student experience in disaster recovery, and disaster recovery now and in the future. Among the speakers, many of whom played important roles in the recovery effort, are: Giorgio Bonsanti, Anthony Cains,Christopher Clarkson, Alan Farancz, Marco Grassi, Kenneth Hempel. Joe Nkrumah, Debbie Hess Norris, Dag-Ernst Petersen, and Erling Skaug. Due to space constraints, registration will be limited to 100 people. The registration fee is $100 U.S. or 75 Euro.
