Subject: Call for papers--Seals
Call For Papers ICA Oxford University Seal Conservation Congress 2007 There are still some places available for contributions to the International Conseil des Archives Seal Conservation Congress, to be hosted by the Conservation and Collection Care Department of Oxford University Library Services. The Congress will be held at Merton College, Oxford, in March 2007. The subject of the Congress is recent research into the conservation of archival seals and sealed documents. Presentations can cover analysis of materials, condition, information and treatment strategies for any aspect of seal conservation, and can include related research on early wax objects and the nature of their decay and conservation. 'Research' includes evaluation of remedial treatments past and present, comparisons of the efficacy of different approaches, and can cover treatments for forms of attachments, such as cords and tags, as well as for seals themselves. Seals may be wax or resin pendant or resin or other forms of applied seals, on paper, parchment or other documents. The Congress is by invitation based on abstracts of presentations. Up to 15 individuals can attend. Accommodation will be provided free of charge, delegates need to fund their travel costs.
