Aerosols in the field of paper conservation Instituut Collectie Nederland, Amsterdam 27 Oct 2006 Instructors: Dipl.-Rest. Andrea Pataki, Professor Dr. Gerhard Banik and Dipl.-Rest. Fabienne Meyer (State Academy of Art and Design Stuttgart, Department of book and paper conservation) The introduction includes the presentation of properties and physical behaviour of Aerosols that are used in paper conservation. The consolidation behaviour of aqueous consolidation solutions for pigmented surfaces and the fixation of water sensitive dyes will be highlighted to prepare for the practical part of the workshop. The participants will be introduced to the existing misting devices and will practice on prepared dummies to be consolidated and to be fixed including the treatment of ink corroded papers. A variety of adhesives with different concentrations for consolidation and the advantages and disadvantages of different misting devices will be discussed and evaluated.
