Subject: Paintings on glass
A painting on glass measuring approximately 1/10th of an inch by 14 by 18 inches has sustained a fracture along its entire width. The fracture itself has been repaired but the fear is that the thinness of the glass piece could result in adverse stress on the repaired bond. The restorer has asked whether anyone can suggest a suitable substrate, ideally transparent that might be applied to the whole of the reverse providing support and reducing any possibility of stress on the bond.
