Project Manager sought for FAIC grant project The Foundation of the American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works seeks a Project Manager on a two-year contract basis to assist with a grant-funded project that will train conservators and other professionals to serve as rapid response teams to assist cultural institutions following a disaster. The Project Manager will have responsibility for all logistical activities involving three workshop sites, such as travel, lodging, food services, handouts, materials, marketing, communicating with participants, and preparing event reports. The Project Manager will work closely by phone and email with instructors and host institutions to ensure that training needs are met. The Project Manager will report to the AIC Professional Development Director. Abilities, skills, and knowledge required: superior organization skills and multi-tasking abilities; strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal with a wide variety of people and situations; excellent oral, written, and computer skills; experience in managing projects. The Project Manager will be expected to attend the first workshop (scheduled for Atlanta, Georgia) as well as a training session in Washington, DC on evaluation techniques (expenses to be paid by FAIC). This position is an independent contractor and no benefits will be provided. The Project Manager is expected to work off-site and to supply his or her own workspace, computer, phone, and internet access. The contract work is expected to begin in October of 2006 and continue through final reports and evaluation in spring of 2008. The total workload is estimated at approximately 200 hours, with the bulk of the time needed between October 2006 and March of 2007. A fee totaling $12,500 will be paid in increments based on project completion. Reimbursement for approved project expenses such as travel and phone will be provided by FAIC.
