Conservator Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Center for Visual Arts Stanford University <URL:http://museum.stanford.edu/> We are looking for a conservator to write a feasibility study for the repair of the Maya Lin Timetable on the Stanford University campus in Stanford, California. Timetable is both sculpture and timepiece incorporating Pacific Standard Time, Daylight Savings Time, and Greenwich Mean Time or Universal Time. It also runs on a mechanical system with custom gears and gear ratios that operate when submerged in running water and powered by electricity. The sculpture is made of a 16-ton black granite turntable on an asymmetrical base that revolves once a year and is in constant motion 24 hours a day. It is sited in the Science Quad and framed by the Gates Computer Science and Packard Electrical Engineering Buildings. Interest in interdepartmental collaboration and student involvement desired.
