Andrew W. Mellon Advanced Training Fellowship Book or Paper Conservation The Walters Art Museum The Walters Art Museum is offering an Andrew W. Mellon advanced training fellowship in book and/or paper conservation to begin fall 2007. This is a one-year position with the option for renewal for a second year. The annual stipend is $35,000 and $3,000 for travel/research plus a generous benefits package. The Walters is a museum with collections that date from ancient times to the early 20th century that include significant holdings of Western and Asian works of art on paper, medieval manuscripts, illustrated printed books and fine bindings. The Fellow will be expected to participate in the preservation of the museum collections and also be involved in a wide range of professional activities. The Fellow will work half time on treatment, preventative maintenance, and other staff activities relating to the collections. For the balance of the time he/she will focus on a research project that should culminate in a paper of publishable quality. Candidates should be graduates of a recognized conservation training program or have equivalent experience.
