Places are available on Bachelor of Science in Furniture Conservation and Restoration Programme in Letterfrack, Ireland The Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT) <URL:http://www.letterfrack.net/> is offering places for the Bachelor of Science Programme in Furniture Conservation and Restoration on the Letterfrack campus situated on the scenic west coast of Ireland. The three year full-time programme commences in September 2007. It is comprised of practical and theoretical subjects including Professional Studies in Conservation, Traditional Processes, Conservation Science, various documentation techniques and Furniture History. In the practical training students learn by working on historic furniture under personal instruction by experienced tutors. A 16 week work placement as well as study trips complement the fascinating learning experience. The facilities for the programme include a state of the art conservation work area, woodworking and woodturning facilities with a range of power tools and fixed machinery as well as a scientific laboratory and photographic equipment. The programme is accredited by the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS), which enables graduates to progress to a Bachelor Honours and Masters Degree.
