Paper Conservator and Project Paper Conservator (0.5FTE) The Glasgow School of Art (GSA) The Glasgow School of Art (GSA) is internationally recognised as one of Britain's foremost higher education institutions for the study and advancement of art, design and architecture. The School is at the heart of Glasgow, one of Europe's most dynamic artistic communities, offering students and staff a stimulating experience in a unique environment. The GSA has recently been awarded a heritage lottery grant to fund its Mackintosh Conservation and Access Project. In addition to refurbishing the Charles Rennie Mackintosh building, the project also aims to conserve and re-house the extensive archives and collections, which are held in the Mackintosh Research Centre. Two conservation positions are available as part of this exciting project. Paper Conservator Circa UKP23,000 per annum* 3 Years Fixed Term (subject to pending Job Evaluation Review) Applications are invited from experienced and professionally qualified paper conservators, with substantial practical experience. Accredited status is desirable. You will be responsible for setting up a working Conservation Treatment Studio as part of the Mackintosh Research Centre, undertaking preventive and remedial conservation of works on paper. The successful applicant will work with the Glasgow School of Art's institutional archive which provides an ongoing record of the School, the artistic community of Glasgow and the West of Scotland from 1845 to the present day. Educated to degree level (or equivalent) you will be a highly motivated conservator who can demonstrate a wide knowledge of traditional and modern conservation techniques. Project Paper Conservator (0.5FTE) Circa UKP20,500 per annum* 2 Years Fixed Term (subject to pending Job Evaluation Review) Applications are invited from professionally qualified paper conservators, with relevant practical experience. This post may be suitable for a conservator in the early stages of their career. You will be responsible for undertaking preventive and remedial conservation of works on paper, from the Gillespie, Kidd and Coia architectural archive. Educated to degree level (or equivalent) you will be a highly motivated conservator who can demonstrate knowledge of traditional and modern conservation techniques.
