International Conference on "Conservation of Paper Manuscripts and Documents" New Delhi, India, 18-21 February, 2008 Theme: New Directions in Conservation of Paper Manuscripts and Documents In preparation for the upcoming International Conference on the topic "New Directions in Conservation of Paper Manuscripts and Documents", The National Mission for Manuscripts is now calling for papers. 1. Objectives: To present an overview of current research and methodologies on conservation of paper manuscripts and documents adopted by the leading paper conservators, restorers and scientists To acquaint international community with the conservation objectives and research taken up by the National Mission for Manuscripts To codify and publish the proceedings and papers in order to disseminate current knowledge on conservation to all professionals Those interested in participating in the Conference are requested to contribute in following topics: New Directions in: Documentation and examination of paper manuscripts and documents Paper technology pertaining to typology and methods of preparation of paper Bio-deterioration of paper manuscripts and documents Fumigation of paper manuscripts and documents De-acidification (aqueous, non-aqueous and gaseous) of paper manuscripts and documents Display and storage of paper manuscripts, documents and books Pest management in paper repositories Restoration of illustrated paper manuscripts Preventive conservation and curative conservation related to iron gall ink deterioration Restoration of illustrated paper manuscripts Authors should use the abstract template "Abstract Template for the papers.doc" <URL:http://www.namami.org/ Abstract%20Template%20for%20the%20papers.doc>. **** Moderator's comments: The above URL has been wrapped for email. Final Selection and Call for Papers Authors whose abstracts have been provisionally selected will be invited by the National Mission for Manuscripts to submit a full paper and later for paper presentation in the Conference. The final papers must reach the National Mission for Manuscripts by 15 August, 2007. 3.Funding for Paper presentation: The National Mission for Manuscripts encourages the authors to arrange their own funding for travel to Delhi either from their respective organizations or from other funding bodies. Local hospitality will be provided by the National Mission for Manuscripts during the Conference. However, a few travel grants are available with the Mission for those who are unable to find other sources of funding.
