Conservation Laboratory Manager Preservation Services Branch National Library of Australia Australian Public Service Level 6 Position Number 734 Salary: AUD$56,733 - $65,171 pa Permanent vacancy We are looking for an experienced Conservator to manage the day-to-day operations of the Conservation Laboratory at the National Library of Australia in Canberra. The Preservation Services Branch of the National Library of Australia is responsible for collection maintenance activities that ensure that Australian library materials and highly significant non-Australian materials are available for current and future use. Other materials are maintained in a useable condition for as long as practicable. To achieve this we provide appropriate preventive, conservation treatment and reformatting measures, including digitisation, to identified materials in accordance with the Library's Preservation Policy. The branch deals with staff at all levels throughout the Library. The Laboratory Manager responsibilities * developing and managing the preservation and conservation treatment programs for paper based materials to achieve planned preservation, service delivery and corporate objectives * undertake staff development and supervision of staff as required * organise preservation training placements in the section * Provide high level advice and support on library preservation matters to the section head in the delivery of the Collection Preservation programs * Establish, review and modify practice and procedure as required.
