The Library has recently benefited from a thorough remodelling and the updating of its operating mechanisms, aimed at the realisation of a Specialised Documentation Centre, which is not only intended for use by the Institute's technical/scientific personnel, but also by people who are carrying out research for training purposes in the field of book studies. Over the years, from its contextual constitution to the foundation of the Institute, the library has acquired an ever more distinct form and has enriched its collections above all in the area of bibliology, the archaeology of the book, the history of books and libraries, and the scientific disciplines applied to the conservation and restoration of cultural heritage, with particular focus on library materials. Currently the Library's collection is composed of more than 15,000 volumes and 400 periodical publications, 170 of which are contemporary. A number of the important collections acquired by the Institute in its early years, such as the Amori Collection, the Fortini Collection and the Del Pelo Pardi Collection, which are of great importance to the history of the book, are presently being reorganised with a view to making them available for study in digital form. *** Conservation DistList Instance 21:5 Distributed: Friday, May 18, 2007 Message Id: cdl-21-5-001 ***Received on Wednesday, 16 May, 2007
