Institute of Conservation - Photographic Materials Group Cold Storage 11 June 2007 10am - 4:30pm Morning sessions: The National Trust Headquarters Heelis, Kemble Drive, Swindon, UK Afternoon sessions: The National Monuments Record English Heritage, Kemble Drive, Swindon, UK We are pleased to announce a full day of activities based on the subject of cold storage of photographic materials. Speakers confirmed so far include internationally renown Henry Wilhelm, Ian Moor from the Centre for Photographic Conservation, Hilary Roberts from the Imperial War Museum and Kate Jennings from the Tate Collection. During the morning sessions Henry Wilhelm, author of "The Permanence and Care of Color Photographs" will consider some of the issues surrounding cold storage of photographs and describe recent project work; Ian Moor will pose the question "Suppressed Storage - What is it?"; Hilary Roberts and Kate Jennings will each present practical case studies from their respective institutions. At lunchtime there will be representatives from relevant suppliers who will display and discuss their products, plus an optional tour of award-winning Heelis. Lunch will be provided by National Trust Catering. The afternoon sessions will be held next door at the National Monuments Record (NMR) where delegates will visit NMR's vast cold storage facility and conservation studio, and attend a demonstration on packaging for cold storage.
