6 Month Fixed Term Appointment

Historic Scotland's Technical Conservation Research and Education
Division invite you to apply for the above 6 month fixed term
appointment based at the Historic Scotland Conservation Centre,
South Gyle, Edinburgh.

You will be involved in the conservation of stone artefacts,
monuments and architectural detail using established methods of
treatment as well as helping to formulate new methods when
necessary. You will maintain records of methods and materials used,
the sequence and results of treatments employed and compilation of
specialist advisory reports on carved stonework to assist other
Divisions of Historic Scotland (HS). You will assist in preparing
condition surveys of properties within the HS estate and contribute
to training and research programmes for the Division.

You will be able to demonstrate a high level of knowledge and skill
in conservation practices and have proven experience in a wide range
of conservation projects. A recognised qualification in conservation
is desirable as is knowledge of Scottish building stones and
construction techniques. Please note this post will involve working
at heights, manual handling of heavy objects and overnight stays at
sites across Scotland. A clean driving licence is essential.

Salary is performance related and is in the range of UKP18,411 -
UKP25,763.
