Conservators The National Museum of American History (NMAH) The Smithsonian's National Museum of American History (NMAH) is undergoing a major building renovation and plans to reopen in July 2008 with new and updated exhibitions. To support work for the Museum's reopening exhibitions, NMAH Preservation Services is hiring the 2 Object conservators, with the projected start date of September 2007 for a one year temporary appointment. Salary range is IS 9/11 ($46,041 $72,421). Conservators will survey artifacts to determine treatment and display needs, carry out artifact treatments, and mount artifacts for display. They must be able to work flexibly in a fast paced, deadline driven environment as a member of exhibition project teams. Candidates should have a degree from a recognized conservation program or equivalent experience. If interested, please submit a resume and three references to me by e-mail or mail.
