Assistant Conservator, easel painting Assistant Conservator, easel paintings (Flexible Part Time) Two positions in independent paintings conservation studio, Central England The studio has been established over 20 years and is listed on the Conservation Register of the UK Institute of Conservation. The location is semi-rural with good transport links to major centres. The studio offers museum standard conservation to a client base of mainly institutions and private owners. Job Description: There are two opportunities one of which is full time. The other is part time and offers completely flexible working with hours to suit. The successful candidates will be actively involved in all aspects of the practical conservation and restoration of easel paintings. Additional responsibilities include documentation, organisation of transport and stock control of materials. For the right candidates there will be opportunities to apply and extend an interest or previous experience in the following fields: Examination of paint cross-sections and pigment analysis by polarizing light microscopy. Electronic databases for surveys Digital photography Qualifications: You should have a high level of practical skills and experience of treating a wide range of paintings. You should have a recognised post-graduate qualification in the conservation of easel paintings. Ideally you should be PACR Accredited or working towards Professional Accreditation. The studio actively supports application for Accreditation by its employees. You must be an EU National or in possession of a current permit to work in the UK.
