Subject: Call for papers--AIC Book and Paper Group, LCCDG
Call for Presenters The Library Collections Conservation Discussion Group (LCCDG) The Library Collections Conservation Discussion Group (LCCDG) of the Book and Paper Group is pleased to announce the 2008 session topic: Digitization Project Case Studies. This topic was born from the lively brainstorming session held during the joint EMG-LCCDG discussion group at the 2007 AIC annual meeting. In preparation for the 2008 discussion group, the co-chairs are seeking individuals to present short, informal case studies of digitization projects that include conservation work. We are interested in all types of digital imaging projects, from co-operative efforts with large corporations to online exhibitions to preservation reformatting efforts. Participants are encouraged to share experience working with different sizes and formats of library collections a-books, manuscripts, photographs, drawings, ephemera, etc. Participants will prepare a ten minute presentation on a digitization project from their institution that describes the size and scope of the project, funding source(s), staffing, project workflows, selection criteria, conservation treatment workflows, and treatments. The presentation would conclude with descriptions of lessons learned and recommendations to colleagues. Participants are encouraged to share handouts on their project, everything from simple organizational charts and workflow diagrams to care and handling guidelines. If you are interested in participating and sharing your experiences with your colleagues please contact us with a short description of your project by December 15, 2007. Thank you for your interest and we look forward to seeing you at the 2008 LCCDG session in Denver, Sarah Reidell Associate Conservator for Books and Paper The New York Public Library Barbara Goldsmith Preservation Division Fifth Avenue and 42nd Street, Room 60 New York, New York 10018 212-930-0723 Fax: 212-302-5328 Laura McCann, Conservation Librarian New York University Libraries Barbara Goldsmith Preservation and Conservation Department 70 Washington Square, South New York, New York 10012 212-998-2562 Fax: 212-995-4583 *** Conservation DistList Instance 21:23 Distributed: Sunday, September 23, 2007 Message Id: cdl-21-23-005 ***Received on Thursday, 20 September, 2007
