Museum of Fine Arts, Boston Assistant objects conservator The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston seeks a full-time assistant objects conservator for a one-year term appointment in the Department of Conservation and Collections Management. The project assistant conservator will focus on the examination and treatment of Late Archaic and Early Classical Attic ceramics in the Museum's collection identified as unstable, primarily due to aging of previous restoration or the presence of soluble salts. The assistant conservator will work closely with curator and other objects conservators in developing treatment and aesthetic solutions. The Division of Objects Conservation is responsible for the preservation, examination and treatment of three-dimensional objects and sculpture in this encyclopedic collection which spans the history of western and non-western art, ranging from archaeological material to contemporary art. Applicants should have a Master's degree (M.A. or M.S.) from a recognized conservation training program specializing in objects conservation. Previous experience in the treatment of classical ceramics is preferred. Excellent interpersonal and writing skills are required.
