The British Library is pleased to offer a funded internship in book
conservation.  One internship is available, this is funded by the
Heritage Lottery Fund and will take place January 21, 16 2009.

We are seeking to offer the internship to a graduate with book
conservation qualification(s) (an MA in book conservation would be
desirable) who wishes to grow their career within the conservation
field by improving their practical, hands-on conservation skills in
one of the greatest research libraries in the world.  The successful
candidate will be selected on the basis of conservation knowledge in
relation to the projects available, conservation abilities, a
commitment to professional ethics as laid out in the ECCO Guidelines
and Code of Ethics, effective communication skills, and an
understanding of library and archival collections.  The successful
candidate will need to give examples of how they meet the essential
criteria for the internship.

There is one internship available with a bursary of UKP10,000.  The
bursary will be paid on a monthly basis.  The internship is open to
those who have the right to live and work in the UK.

The internship will consist of one main project with other
supplementary projects in book conservation.  For the main project,
the intern will be expected to use a project management framework
and monitor their progress against a project plan. At the end of the
project, the intern will produce a written report and deliver a
presentation of their work.

Please note that the intern will be supervised by a British Library
conservator throughout their internship and work will be monitored
on a regular basis.

The closing date for applications is 23 November 2007 and interviews
will be held week commencing 10 December 2007.  You will be notified
by 20 December 2007 if you have been successful.
